CURRENT TRENDS IN EUROPEAN FILM

Joint Program of the Slavic and East European Section (ACRL)and the Western European Studies Section in cooperation with Arts (ACRL) for ALA Annual in New Orleans

A “new” European Cinema reflects a shifting European political and cultural landscape. The establishment of the European Union, the fall of the Wall in 1989, and expanding multiculturalism through immigration has influenced filmmaking in Western and Eastern Europe, creating new cross-cultural and trans-national identities. We will explore questions of identity and culture in contemporary European film as well as highlight resources for collecting and disseminating film.
