I am the PI on a grant from OLAC (Online Audiovisual Catalogers), which I and two others were granted to improve discovery and access of streaming media in academic libraries. One of the major deliverables for this project is a toolkit for librarians to use to work with streaming media in their libraries. I would like to see as robust a representation as possible from libraries using different ILS/LSPs as every system has slightly different requirements to make holdings accessible and discoverable. For ESS folks, there is a particularly challenging need, which is access and discovery of foreign language films. I understand this is a particular need and I am not familiar with what libraries are doing currently to make these items available for patrons.

I think we will need input from catalogers, acquisitions folks, reference people, and discovery experts. Really, though, anyone who touches any part of the streaming lifecycle and is excited to participate is welcome! The level of involvement for these informal working groups will not be significant, but it is important for input at the beginning as we get rolling in the next 6-8 weeks and again next spring-summer (2019), once we have documentation to share. Participation will be requested via Zoom meetings or by email, and Google docs.
