Purposes and Origins
The WESS Executive Committee is responsible for the stewardship of WESS and the coordination of its activities. The Committee shall consist of the officers, the chairpersons of standing committees, and one member-at-large elected for a one-year term. Regular meetings of the Executive Committee shall be held twice a year at the Annual and Midwinter meetings of the American Library Association. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the chairperson. Only members of the Executive Committee may vote at Executive Committee meetings, although all Executive Committee meetings shall be open to all WESS members and other interested parties.

2011 Survey of WESS Membership
In June 2010, the WESS Executive Committee authorized the WESS Chair to establish a task force to survey WESS members about the section’s activities, programs, and resources and to gauge interest in holding virtual committee and discussion group meetings over in‐person ones. An online survey was sent via email to the membership in late 2010 and early 2011. WESS members Robin Canuel, Chellammal Vaidyanathan, and Sarah G. Wenzel served on the task force along with Brian Vetruba as task‐force chair.
